Abstract
HEMOGRAM AND NBT TEST RESULTS OF PREGNANT GIROLANDA COWS This study investigates the relationship between hematological parameters and neutrophil functional activity, evaluated by the NBT method, in pregnant Girolanda cows raised in Brazil. This work was carried out at the dairy farm Fazenda Santa Rosa at Universidade Federal de Goias, Jatai Campus, southwest of Goiânia, Goias State. Hemogram results revealed that the number of prepartum leukocytosis was higher than postpartum ones, although they were not characterized as leucopenia due to stress on leukocyte count during parturition. Assessment of neutrophils oxidative metabolism showed that reduction in the number of neutrophils in the postpartum period may be justified by stress.
