Abstract

This research was carried out through an agreement among Escola de Agronomia e Engenharia de Alimentos – Universidade Federal de Goias, Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuaria – Embrapa Arroz e Feijao, and Agencia Goiana de Desenvolvimento Rural e Fundiario, in the municipality of Goiânia, Goias State, Brazil. The objective was to develop a human traction bar sprayer prototype, equipped with hydraulic nozzles, and evaluate its performance. The measured variables were: work performance (ha.h-1), spray drop density (drops.cm-2), and spraying deposit (ng.cm-2). The developed prototype has performed satisfactorily. Water sensitive paper cards and micros-cope plates, laid over the soil, were used for spraying sampling and drop distribution sampling. Evaluations were made in just tilled soil, pasture, and corn, beans and rice crops. The sprayer developed an average 1.18 ha.h-1 work performance, 81.46 drops.cm-2 drop density, and 64.84 ng.cm-2 of recovered product at soil level. KEY-WORDS: Prototype; pesticides; sprayers.
