Abstract
Given the significance that comics have as a practice of interpretive visual reading, the present research aims to describe the effect generated by the implementation of the workshop: reflective reading of the comics “El Lustra” in the formation of social awareness in high school students. The research corresponds to the mixed approach (quantitative-qualitative), explanatory type, with a non-experimental – longitudinal design. The main findings when measuring educational actions of reflection and participation in the students, in addition to the practice of social values, highlight that after the implementation and subsequent execution of the workshop, an increase in the number of schoolchildren who respect their classmates is achieved, They practice solidarity and responsibility, they communicate better, they participate more in classes, in group socialization work and they value their family better. It is concluded that the use of comics in the educational process at the secondary level constitutes an alternative with significant levels of effectiveness, in addition to contributing to the development of social values and with it the critical, reflective, expression and creativity capacity.
