Abstract

I want to thank my colleague Dr. Edward Buchanan for guest editing the current issue of Seminars in Plastic Surgery on the topic of craniofacial surgery, as well as the authors for their contributions. Dr. Buchanan is currently an assistant professor of surgery in the Plastic Surgery Division of the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. He specializes in pediatric plastic surgery and craniofacial surgery. He obtained his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2004 and completed his plastic surgery residency at Stanford University Medical Center in 2010. Immediately following his residency, Dr. Buchanan completed a craniofacial/pediatric plastic surgery fellowship at Seattle Children's Hospital. His primary practice is at the Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, where his primary practice focus is cleft lip and palate, craniofacial anomalies, and pediatric plastic surgery. His clinical research focuses on outcomes analysis. Although early in his career, Dr. Buchanan is meeting the challenges of a skillful surgeon and excellent teacher.
