Abstract

Editor's IntroductionInvited Essays on Expanding the Map of Great Plains Literature Charles A. Braithwaite In March 2017, the Great Plains Symposium, sponsored by the Center for Great Plains Studies at the University of Nebraska, examined the topic "Flat Places, Deep Identities: Mapping Nebraska and the Great Plains." In part, the symposium commemorated the publication of the Atlas of the Great Plains (2011) and the Atlas of Nebraska (2017). Over the next several issues of Great Plains Quarterly, we will be publishing invited and peer-reviewed articles presented at the conference. The first of these is a special section on Expanding the Map of Great Plains Literature, based on a panel that included Daniel Simon, Rilla Askew, Linda Ray Pratt, and Richard Edwards.
