Abstract
As this volume goes to the press, volatility is again writ large in public debate. We look back on what seems to be the hottest summer on record, and global warming has entered everyday decision making in an unprecedented manner. While ongoing armed conflicts and recent election outcomes across Europe indicate profound shifts not only in geopolitical scenarios, but also, perhaps, in the means and ends of politics. We cannot help but sense an urgency to respond while not (yet) knowing what it is we need to respond to and how.
