Abstract

At the 1925 meeting of Poultry Science. Association, held at Manhattan, Kansas, the report of the Sub-Committee on Research in Poultry Breeding contained the statement that studies of the inheritance of such morphological traits as plumage color, comb form, shank color, et cetera, led the list of research projects in poultry breeding actually being carried out at the various stations of the country. Some of these projects have now been going long enough so that results are available.Doctor D. C. Warren presents some very interesting facts and comments relating to the question of hybrid vigor in poultry. We are inclined to agree with Doctor Warren in his statement that “It would appear that the practical possibilities of the field of hybridization would justify more attention than has been given by investigators in poultry husbandry.” It seems to us that not only is there much to be learned about hybrid.
