Abstract

There is a special significance to Dr. Forsythe's presence here today. The Poultry Science Association was formed in 1908 as the International Association of Instructors and Investigators in Poultry Husbandry. It was called international because it included both Canada and the United States; however, in 1911, the name was changed to the American Association of Instructors and Investigators in Poultry Husbandry. The change was made probably because at the same meeting it was voted to form a truly international organization if a Mr. Edward Brown of Reading University in the U.K. would accept the presidency. He accepted, and the International Association of Poultry Instructors and Investigators was born.In 1926 the first organization changed its name to the Poultry Science Association and in 1928 the latter organization became the World's Poultry Science Association.
