Abstract
The UK Central Council deserves criticism for its pronouncement that the job specification for its new chief executive and registrar will more than likely not specify a nursing qualification as essential. The team of management consultants called in to review the organisation has proposed a set of essential qualities and skills which any new incumbent must possess and the ‘desirable’ skills do not include the possession of a nurse qualification.
