Abstract
After a short period as Review Editor, which officially commenced on 1st January 2003, I became the Editor in Chief on 1st October 2003. Throughout September 2003 I shadowed Brian Bentley, the former Editor in Chief of Radiography in order to understand the issues involved in managing the journal. Having said that Brian continued to help me with the management of the journal for some months after the start of my official term as Editor in Chief and my thanks goes out to him for this.
