Abstract

In this issue, International Studies Review commemorates the 100th anniversary of World War I with the publication of John Vasquez's article “The First World War and IR Theory.” The publication of Vasquez's piece is significant for another reason as well: It inaugurates our new publication format, the Review Essay. In January 2014, the ISR Editorial Team began phasing out multiple book reviews to make room for Review Essays. Like multiple book reviews, Review Essays consider a number of recently published academic works on a common theme and/or debate. Unlike multiple book reviews, though, Review Essays are scholarly works that make an original contribution to the literature. Review Essays, thus, are fully peer-reviewed through ISR's double-blind process. We invite academics, doctoral/PhD students, and other researchers to author Review Essays.
