Abstract
The authors present a detailed review of data from the Multi-institutional Genito-Urinary Trauma Study (MiGUTS), specifically looking at high grade renal trauma (HGRT) and looked for associations with nephrectomy. There were 1181 patients with HGRT and 129 (11%) underwent nephrectomy and 96 (8%) died. The authors analyzed variables of these patients with HGRT and performed descriptive statistics. They found that those who underwent nephrectomy had triple the death rate compared with those who did not.
