Abstract
In this study, Lavi et al sought to evaluate the performance of a novel biopsy processing technique to download tissue cores (SmartBx) in patients undergoing systematic transrectal ultrasound-guided biopsy. The authors found that longer cores and higher tissue yield per core were obtained with this system compared to the standard processing method. The purported advantage being a small, but significant overall cancer detection rate for PSA<10 and the ability to improve estimation of cancer location and volume.
