Abstract

An observational retrospective study of a nationwide cohort of patients may provide some evidence to support neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) followed by nephroureterectomy with bladder cuff excision (NUBCE) in the treatment of high-grade upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma (UUTUC). The efficacy of NAC in the treatment of urothelial carcinoma was reported by Grossman et al in 2003 that paved the path for the new therapeutic concept.1 That study showed more favorable overall survival and downstaging in patients with NAC followed by cystectomy compared to cystectomy alone for locally advanced bladder cancer.
