Abstract

This manuscript presents an aggressive clinical pathway in a large number of patients who underwent robotic nephroureterectomy. The pathway involves no placement of a pelvic drain, Foley catheter removal on postoperative day 1 (POD#1), and discharge home on POD#1. The authors were able to achieve POD#1 discharge in 93% of patients and all 3 criteria of no drain, early catheter removal, and POD#1 discharge in 90% of patients. The authors attribute using a robotic approach to perform the distal ureteral resection and bladder closure as the major contributor to the success of this pathway.
