Abstract
Although rare, rectourethral fistula (RUF) is a morbid pathology most commonly presenting as an iatrogenic defect in patients treated for prostate or rectal cancer. Increasing rates of prostate cancer detection and concurrent use of energy therapies for pelvic malignancies have led to an increased incidence of RUF. An estimated 0.1%-3% of patients undergoing external beam radiation therapy, brachytherapy, and/or cryotherapy for prostate or rectal cancer present with RUF. 1 Hechenbleikner E.M. Buckley J.C.
