Abstract

Editor’s Note Bruce R. Burningham This is the fourth time during my years as Editor of Cervantes that we have featured a guest-edited special cluster. As in previous instances, I will leave the introduction of the particular articles of the special cluster, titled Cervantine Excesses and Eccentricities, to its guest editors, Frederick de Armas and Carmela Mattza. Nevertheless, as I also did in the case of previous special clusters, I will nevertheless still introduce this issue’s book reviews, which have been curated by Ana Laguna, our Book Review Editor. Thus, following the ten articles that comprise Cervantine Excesses and Eccentricities, this Spring 2022 issue of Cervantes will feature three book reviews: Bradley Nelson on Michael Gerli’s Cervantes: Displacements, Inflections, and Transcendence; Enrique García Santo-Tomás on Aaron Kahn’s Oxford Handbook of Cervantes; and Paul Michael Johnson on Marina Brownlee’s Cervantes’ PERSILES and the Travails of Romance. Finally, as always, I want express my deep thanks to our Associate Editors and other peer reviewers for all their hard work, to Ana Laguna (once again) for her work as Book Review Editor, to John Beusterien for helping me manage a submissions process that involves a hundred moving parts, and to María Dolores Morillo for helping me proofread the entire issue.
