Abstract

The search for Soviet Russian literature that reflects native traditions and regional diversity within the multinational school system of the USSR is very difficult. The assumption may be made that in a country spanning one-sixth of the earth's surface and made up of fifteen federated republics and countless national and ethnic minorities there is an almost infinite variety of educational styles and cultures. Yet Soviet publications convey an overwhelming impression of uniformity, or more accurately, attempted uniformity.
