Abstract
The posthumous discovery of Blaise Pascal’s writings on Christianity posed a challenge for his family and friends: how should these writings be edited? The present work makes a brief inquiry into this challenge and offers an overview of the main editions of Pascal’s Pensées since the Seventeenth century, including that of Allain Cantillon, published in 2023. The purpose of the present work, therefore, encompasses the following steps: (I) some historical remarks concerning the task of editing Pensées, (II) an overview of its main editions, and finally (III and IV) a description and analysis of Cantillon’s editorial proposal.
