Abstract

In the last four chapters, four different EDI projects were described from the viewpoint of three different theoretical approaches. Through this multi-theory approach, interesting insights into each of the EDI adoption and diffusion processes could be gained. The purpose of this chapter is to bring them all together for a cross-case analysis. The analysis covers the elements of the political-economy framework elaborated in chapter 2, external political economy, economic structure, sociopolitical structure, economic processes, and sociopolitical processes, in a comparative view of the four EDI project cases. Then a concluding section summarises the results of the cross-case analysis and evaluates the eclectic approach to EDI adoption and diffusion. Finally, implications for the design of promotion measures in future EDI projects are derived with regard to compatibility aspects, efficiency aspects and the use of power.
