Abstract
A 43-year-old female presented with a tumor in the nasal bulbar conjunctiva of the left eye that had been present for 3 years. A yellowish tumor measuring approximately 7 × 5 mm was observed. It was solidly elevated, bumpy, well-defined, and exhibited angiogenesis. Below the tumor, there was a translucent, thin-walled cyst. Both lesions were removed by microscopic surgical excision. Pathological diagnosis: The hyperplastic lacrimal gland of the conjunctiva exhibited focal duct papillary hyperplasia. The cyst wall consisted of a bilayer columnar epithelial cells. The features of the conjunctival ectopic lacrimal gland differed from those of the normal lacrimal gland. Furthermore, the ectopic lacrimal contained an excretory duct that formed a cyst. The combination of an ectopic lacrimal gland and a lacrimal ductal cyst in the nasal conjunctiva is rare. Pathological diagnosis is necessary to confirm the diagnosis.
