Abstract
The Continental Terminal was first defined byKillan (1931) for Saharan Continental Sediments of Miocene-Pliocene age. Since the introduction of the terminology, it's usage has become very ill-defined and ferruginised tertiary sediments of marine origin in the coastal basins of West Africa have all been referred to as part of the Continental Terminal.
