Abstract

In the multitude of different problems connected with the transition to a market economy and the reappraisal of the policy of distribution through social consumption funds, questions concerning changes in the economic conditions of the functioning of institutions, enterprises, and organizations in the sociocultural sphere require independent discussion. Part of their activity is of high social significance, i.e., is connected with needs, the urgency of the satisfaction of which is higher from the standpoint of society as a whole than from the standpoint of the individual consumer. This necessitates economic support by society for the corresponding activity1 and for nonmarket regulators of this activity. The restructuring of the economic mechanism of functioning of institutions in the sociocultural sphere therefore acquires significant unique features of its own.
