Abstract

This paper investigates the benefits of Direct Current Power Flow Controllers (DC-PFCs) on wind power delivery and system operating costs. A coordination scheduling model for AC/DC hybrid system including DC-PFCs is proposed. First., the power flow model of the DC-PFC is deduced and linearized. Then., to minimize total operation cost., a short-term scheduling model for AC/DC hybrid system with wind power integration considering the DC-PFC is established by determining operating parameters of conventional units., wind farms and the DC-PFC. AC/DC transmission network constraints and operation constraints of conventional units and the DC-PFC are incorporated into the model. IEEE-RTS system integrated with a 6-bus VSC-HVDC grid is applied to verify the effectiveness of method proposed. Results show that the DC- PFC can reduce system operation cost and improve the delivery of wind power effectively by optimizing the power flow.
