Abstract
This study is based on the ecology. It aims to investigate the principle and characteristics of identity in terms of the ecology, and w hat the ecological identity means in poetry education. Until now we have discussed the identity based on the Western Romanticism which focused on the subject of the world egoism. This approach, however, has limits, which is why this study regards the ecological identity as the basic concept. The ecological identity is based on the mutual respect with the subject, the object and the language, and aims to transcend the self by the altruism in the relation ship with these three elements. This study seeks to investigate the principle and meaning of teaching poetry with this perspective.
