Abstract

The aim of the national conference «Scales and timing in the climatic Quaternary variations and the Responses of the environments» was to present results obtained by of the French Quaternary community working on the paleoenvironmental changes related to climate vanations. Two main theme were discussed: abrupt changes, and changes recorded in long sequences. The following articles, presented in this issue, correspond to records in different types of deposits. They underline the capacity of the environment to respond to relatively short events, about ten years in duration, or longer, several thousand years long.
