Abstract
Rocks of the Ventersdorp and Transvaal Supergroups in southeastern Botswana were block faulted during an event of cratonic “updoming” approximately 2.1 Ga ago. Structural analysis of the area between the villages of Ramotswa and Lobatse shows that the faulting was preceeded by regional folding about easterly to east-northeasterly plunging axes (F1). Refolding about south-southeasterly trending axes (F) caused axes took place in the faulted region during rotation and tilting of the blocks along slightly to steeply inclined dip-slip faults. The block faulting was coeval with the emplacement of syenite intrusions in the region.
