Abstract

This is a research and development project which involves experimental study of e-waste infused bituminous mix for flexible pavements. Non– hazardous and inert components of e-waste (Printed Circuit Boards) are used for this purpose. This is an effective and sustainable use of e-waste thereby reducing its effect on the environment. The project involves preparation of e-waste infused modified bitumen for the normal mix design used in India i.e. Dense Bituminous Macadam and its properties are analyzed. The aggregates collected are to be tested for the following properties: Specific gravity, Impact value, Flakiness index, Waster absorption. The modified bitumen is to be prepared by adding 2 % and 5% e-waste. The following tests are to be carried out for bitumen: Penetration Test, Specific Gravity Determination, Softening point Test, and Marshall Stability Value. The results of 2% and 5% e-waste infused bitumen are compared with the normal bitumen and the maximum dosage of e-waste to be added is to be determined.
