Abstract
A new approach of fast electrical switching between single and dual-wavelength operations of a self-seeded FP laser diode is demonstrated. The dynamics of switching is also studied using a boxcar integrator. The time required to achieve stable operation is experimentally determined to be about five to six round-trips and the evolution for dual-mode formation is slightly slower than that of single-mode owing to a lower mode feedback power.
