Abstract
The oscillation of the resonant frequency shift (ΔF) of a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) was observed in the 1,4-cyclohxanedione-bromate system well-known as a bubble-free oscillator. The attempt revealed that the ΔF oscillation was observed in the system with a catalyst and not in that without a catalyst. It also became clear that the ΔF oscillation was independent of the adsorption of the halogen species and compounds onto the Pt electrode of the QCM, and that the main cause of the ΔF oscillation was the variation of the solution viscosity and density by the charge change of a catalyst.
