Abstract

We consider the dynamics in a fiber laser model for pump modulation frequencies much smaller than that of the relaxation oscillations of the model. We find that for low enough subharmonic pump frequencies and those near the Edge-of-Chaos, long-term correlations arise in the discrete time series of the laser intensity. Moreover, within this low frequency range we demonstrate that both frequency locking and, imperfect phase synchronization occur. These are determined through the notion of mean-frequency. We conjecture that these dynamical effects may be experimentally observed in suitable time series.
