Abstract
The authors provide a general overview of modeling activities for dynamic travel choice problems in urban transportation networks, including route choice, departure time choice and mode choice. Each of these objectives corresponds conceptually to a proposed route guidance system. Current research on formulating dynamic models which correspond to these objectives is summarized. It is shown that optimal control theory can be used to formulate dynamic user-optimal travel choice models for a congested transportation network. >
