Abstract
This paper investigates the effect of unevenness in the bridge deck on the dynamic response of single span bridge due to moving loads. For simplicity, the moving vehicle was modeled as a single degree of freedom sprung mass moving with constant speed. The single span bridge was modeled as either a simply-supported or hinged-hinged beam. The unevenness in the bridge deck is assumed to be a deterministic profile in the shape of a sinusoidal wave. The dynamic responses considering the effect of vehicle, unevenness, and bridge parameters are obtained and compared between the simple-supported and hinged-hinged bridges.
