Abstract

It has always been a hot and difficult issue in the field to effectively deal with wind curtailment in a combined heat and power (CHP) system. In this paper, a CHP dynamic economic dispatch (ED) model which considers the different adjustment time scales of heating system and power system is proposed. The objective of the proposed model is to minimize the generation cost of all units under the operating constraints of the CHP system. Moreover, electric boilers are utilized to handle wind curtailment by decoupling power generation from heat demand. Since the proposed CHP dynamic ED model is highly nonlinear, the cuckoo search algorithm (CSA) is applied during solutions. Finally, a 9-bus and 6-node CHP test system is performed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed model.
