Abstract

There is an important relationship between the valve system and the engine's power, economy, and emissions. If the valve system is designed unreasonable, it will have quite large influence on the engine's charging efficiency, which reduces a decrease in power, insufficient power, and worsen emissions. Therefore, a good valve system can improve engine performance while meeting higher charging efficiency. This paper uses the 3D modeling software UG to establish model of the valve system of a gasoline engine firstly. Then it is established that the valve system kinematics and dynamics simulation model combined with AVL_EXCITE. According to the analysis of the relative movement of the cam profile under the rated power of the gasoline engine, referring to the evaluation index, the deficiency is found and the optimization scheme is proposed.
