Abstract

Two new bands of the DSO radical are studied by Doppler-limited dye laser excitation spectroscopy. The observed lines in both of the bands are assigned and analyzed to determine molecular constants for each of the excited states. The band origins of the two bands are 16 281.5550(2.5σ = 0.0014) cm −1 and 16 536.1666(2.5σ = 0.0015) cm −1. A force field analysis in the A ̃ 2A′ state is made by using available fundamental frequencies and inertia defects. This leads to a revision of the vibronic assignment for the band studied previously (N. Ohashi, M. Kakimoto, S. Saito, and E. Hirota, J. Mol. Spectrosc. 84, 204–224 (1980)); this band observed at 16 413.8740(20) cm −1 is reassigned to A ̃ 2A′(012) ← X ̃ 2A″(000) , whereas two new bands detected at 16 281.5550(14) and 16 536.1666(15) cm −1 are interpreted as A ̃ 2A′(021) ← X ̃ 2A″(000) and A ̃ 2A′(003) ← X ̃ 2A″(000) , respectively. An additional support for the present assignment is obtained by calculating the Franck-Condon factor.
