Abstract

This paper presents Data-Weighted Averaging (DWA) algorithms for multi-bit ΔΣ digital-to-analog converters (DACs), where a multi-bit DAC is composed of segmented ternary unit cells. We have investigated their effective DWA algorithms. For low-pass type DAC, the DWA (type I) algorithm is effective. However, we found that for high-pass and band-pass type DACs as well as multi-band type with segmented ternary unit cells, the DWA (type I) algorithms are useful, even though for those with binary unit cells, the DWA (type II) algorithms are effective. We will show their simulation results.
