Abstract

Voltage sag is one of the poor power quality problems that have been concern in distribution network and industry utilities. It’s affects the performance of electrical equipment and sensitive loads so it should be overcame. This study discusses the simulation of voltage sag and it’s mitigation with Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) by using Matlab/Simulink with power system blockset. In this study, sensitive load is connected to large induction motor and low voltage distribution busbar with double 3 phase fault is applied in Point of Common Coupling (PCC). Starting of induction motor and double 3 phase fault in sequentially applied in time range of one second cause the voltage sag that impact to voltage profile of sensitive load. To mitigate the voltage sag, on the sensitive load side is installed DVR. The simulation results show that the DVR is great power electronic device to mitigate the deep voltage sag level up to 0.8 p.u. DVR make the sensitive load work properly by inject the voltage to the nominal voltage level.
