DVM α calculations on the electronic structure of complex chlorine anions

Calculations on the electronic structure of BeCl − 3, BCl − 4, MgCl − 3, AlCl − 4, SiCl − 5 and PCl − 6 are carried out using the discrete variational Xα method (DVM Xα). Estimates of election affinities obtained for BeCl 3, BCl 4, MgCl 3, AlCl 4, SiCl 5 and PCl 6 allow us to consider these radicals as “superhalogens”. Comparison is made between isostructural fluorine and chlorine anions.
