Abstract

Duck hepatitis virus (DHV) has been propagated in several types of cell cultures with no or inapparent cytopathic changes and with low virus yield (3,5,7,8). Cytopathic changes induced by DHV have been observed only in stained cultures of duck embryo kidney cells (1). The propagation of DHV in duck embryo liver cell cultures was investigated in a search for a more suitable in vitro system in which DHV would replicate to high titer with accompanying observable cytopathic changes to facilitate titration of the virus and its antiserum.
