Abstract

Abstract This paper considers the changes which have been experienced by Dublin's tourist industry over the past decade, placing them within a national and international context. Within a context of increasing tourist numbers and revenue, it asks whether Dublin's tourism geography has also changed? Looking specifically at hotels, it considers recent developments, their nature and location, particularly in terms of the impact of urban renewal incentives. It also considers the location of Dublin's major tourist attractions and questions the extent to which locational diversification can occur. The implications of these changes for a sustainable tourism industry in Dublin into the future are considered.
