Abstract

A novel dual-band planar monopole antenna design based on the concept of edge resonator loading is presented. The proposed antenna consists of a pair of symmetry resonators and a bevelled planar radiator. The resonators embedded into the edges of the radiator can provide a new resonance and the resonant frequency can be independently tuned. As an example of this concept, a dual-band antenna prototype for WLAN/C-band applications is designed, fabricated and tested. Measurement results show that the fabricated antenna has good impedance matching, wide bandwidth, omnidirectional radiation patterns, and stable gains in the desired bands.
