Abstract
Abstract Drying of porous materials is a critical step in the production of many materials such as ceramics. Accurate simulation of shrinkage and the stresses induced may be used to predict cracking and distortion. One of the characteristic features of materials like clay and ceramics is the change of their mechanical properties during drying as the moisture content is changed. The aim of the present work is to analyse the stresses occurred during drying of a known ceramic material. The effect of considering young's modulus variations in intensity of stress during drying process was investigated and the results are reported.
