Abstract
Reading the “Women in Thoracic Surgery 2020 Update”1 in this issue of The Annals of Thoracic Surgery made me feel proud of our specialty and full of hope. Although cardiothoracic surgery has a long way to go in terms of diversity that accurately reflects the patients we treat, this article demonstrates how much the specialty has changed and the successes that female cardiothoracic surgeons have achieved.
