Abstract

The efficacy of assisted reproductive technology (ART), now in its fifth decade of existence, still does not reach or even approximate 100%. Despite the spectacular prowess accomplished, ART results indeed suffer from persistent shortcomings that likely will last. This imperfection of ART stems from issues that are for one part related to management (clinical and laboratory) and the other part, most importantly, the inherent imperfection of human reproduction as a physiologic function. Indeed, contrary to the typical rabbits endowed with a nearly 100% effective reproduction, it is normal for human reproduction to not work each time.
