Abstract

Despite the substantial improvements in ovarian stimulation protocols, culture systems, and techniques for the assessment of embryo viability, the efficacy of assisted reproductive technology (ART) still does not reach, or even approximate, 100%. This shortfall of ART reflects, most importantly, the inherent imperfection of human reproduction as a physiological function. Poor ovarian response (POR) to controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) is frequently encountered during infertility treatment as one of the most difficult challenges for ART care providers.
