Abstract
Drag of bodies moving through snow with high speeds (1540m/sec) was studied. Shells (as. high-speed moving bodies) were shot into snow pile by an air gun, and output in s built-in acceleration meter was recorded on oscillogram. The impulsive acceleration of shells was measured when they hit the snow surface, and the relation between the drag and the speed of the shell was obtained by integrating the curve on the oscillogram. In the speed range studied, the drag of a body can be expressed as a sum of a term proportional to the square of the velocity and a constant term.
