Abstract

This article presents a two-element-based four-port compact MIMO structure. The single antenna element is energized by two diverse feeding techniques: coaxial probe and conformal strip. Resistor-loaded defected ground structure and orthogonal mode generation technique is used simultaneously to obtain good isolation between adjacent ports (|S21|>18dB). The design operates at 4.9-5.5GHz, covering the entire WLAN band. Furthermore, several MIMO performance parameters like envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) and diversity gain (DG) are evaluated and found within the desired levels, signifying good diversity performance.
