Dosimetry of neutrons and high energy particles with nuclear track detectors

Abstract

ICRP 60 Recommendations increase requirements on the lower detection limit of individual neutron dosimeters by a factor estimated up to about five. Besides, aicrew members should be taken as an occupationally exposed persons, the fields on the board of an aircraft contain, as in the case of high energy accelerator environment, not negligible part of high energy particles. There is the question, to what extent existing nuclear track etch detectors can fulfill new requirements arising. Previous and recently published results concerning the neutron and high energy particle dosimetry are presented, reviewed and analyzed. Results of some intercomparison programs are also included.
