Abstract

The μDOSE+ is a novel measurement system designed for environmental radioactivity measurements and trapped charge dating applications. This study describes improvements integrated into the μDOSE+ system. These enhancements include a redesigned counting chamber equipped with an active radon removal system, passive shielding and an active shielding module that is further refined by machine learning algorithms for precise pulse classification. These advancements collectively lead to a significant reduction in background in the β counting window, improved α and β counting efficiency and easier sample handling. This is demonstrated through a comparative analysis with its predecessor, the classical μDOSE system.
